Welcome!
We are so excited for the upcoming school year!  I know you have many questions, and I hope to answer some with this letter.

What are the hours of the preschool?
Morning Session:  9:15-11:45                         Afternoon Session 12:30-3:00
Drop off and pick up will both be out back at the preschool playground, weather permitting.  If it is raining we will be under the gazebo next to the playground.  Please do not enter the large playground if there are students out at recess.  Please wait for one of the preschool teachers to open the gate.  We are doing our best to always know who is on school grounds in order to keep all of our children safe.
What should my child bring to school?
Your child will need a small backpack, one healthy snack and a drink, along with a change of clothes in a ziplock bag.  (just in case!)

What is the preschool schedule?
The following is a tentative schedule.  For the most part we will always follow this schedule, but I like to be flexible!
  • Drop off/Outside play
  • Circle
  • Centers/Small group
  • Snack
  • Circle/Music
  • Outside play/Pick up

I am a big believer in the benefits of outside play.  It is so important for large muscle growth, exercise, social skills……the list is endless.  So we will go out most days, even in the winter!

Each year I try to grow as an educator.  I have been working hard to understand the area of technology.  If you don’t already know, I have a blog for the preschool where I will try to keep you informed of the happenings in the classroom and provide some helpful activities to enhance your child’s learning.  This has been a work in progress!  The blog can be found at lpollardhelp.blogspot.com.

My newest initiative is to provide music in the classroom.  I believe that music and the arts are a big part of learning.  I have been taking guitar lessons and I am hoping to provide the children with a half hour of music to enhance early learning skills, such as, body parts, positional words, colors, counting and letters!

I hope I have answered some of the big questions.  Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns and we look forward to a fabulous school year!

Sincerely,
Lisa Pollard

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to say "Thank You" for allowing us the opportunity to get to know your children!  It is amazing to me that we get to spend our day with such incredible young people!  Everyday we come to work and are blessed with being able to see the world through innocent eyes!  We hope that your child has enjoyed their school year as much as we have enjoyed teaching them!  We wish you all a fabulous summer!

It’s Almost the End of the School Year!

Hello everyone!

I can not believe I am writing about the last day of school!  I feel as if the year has just begun!  I wanted to remind everyone that the last days of school will be June 7th and June 8th.  On the last day the children will do a small performance and we will all celebrate with an ice cream party!  Weather permitting, we will play outside and say goodbye to our friends for the summer! Please let me know if you do not want your child having ice cream and we will come up with a different treat.

Performance times:

June 7th T-TH am class - 11:00am
June 8th MWF am class - 11:00am
June 8th TWTH pm class - 2:00pm

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

Thank you!

Lisa

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to update you on some important dates!  Next week is our “Art Show”.  This will be held on April 21st @ 5:30, the same night as the Expo for Underhill.  I will be in the classroom all evening, so feel free to walk through and look at all of the wonderful art projects at a time that works for you!  I hope we will see everyone there!

I can’t believe that we are approaching the end of the school year!
Our last day will be:

Tuesday June 7th for the T/Th morning class
Wednesday June 8th for the M/W/F & T/W/TH class

On the last day, the 3 year old class will sing some songs and the 4 year old classes will put on a small play and sing some songs.  This will all happen during your child’s regular class time.  As we get closer I will let you know the exact time.  (Usually an hour before dismissal)  I also was hoping to celebrate the beginning of summer break with an ice cream party.  Please let me know if your child can not have ice cream.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Spring Break!  See you in May!
