What Happened to December?

I don't know about anyone else, but for me December was a whirl wind of activity, and was gone before I knew it!  Even though it is always so busy, it is my favorite month in the preschool!  So full of excitement and wonder!  Here is a glimpse of all that was happening in the classroom in the month of December..........

November is a crazy month!  Having so many holidays, our rhythm is a little off!  But even so, we have been busy!  Here is a peek at all we have been up to!

Exploring a Sunflower

We used our fine motor skills to pick and gather sunflower seeds in a  cup!

What Fun!

The Three Little Pigs

This is a story bracelet.  I love this idea!  Not only does it help us to remember the sequence of a story, but we practice our fine motor skills too!  This is how it works.  Each bead represents something in the story:

3 pink beads = the three pigs
yellow bead = house of straw
brown bead = house of sticks
red bead = house of bricks
black bead = the big bad wolf
blue bead = the pot of boiling water

You can practice this story at home with your children and help them remember the sequence of this wonderful fable/fairy tale!

We also enjoyed acting out the story!

And retelling it with our flannel board pieces....

We love The Three Little Pigs!!

I can't believe that we are now in the month of November!  With the cold weather quickly approaching, please remember that we go outside everyday (weather permitting!) so dress in layers!  If you could label all outer clothing that would be very helpful, the children do not always recognize their warm coats and accessories!

Thank You Hooksett Firefighters!

The Hooksett Firefighters came to our classroom last week!  They gave a fabulous presentation to the children!  They told the children how important it was to never hide if there was a fire at their house and they spoke of the importance of smoke detectors.  We also talked about having a meeting place to go to in case of a fire.  We talked to the children about how at school we have fire drills and our meeting place is in the big playground at the number 2.  Remember, it is also important to have fire drills at home and to have a meeting place, whether it be the mailbox or a neighbors house.  Please take a moment, talk as a family and practice going to your meeting place!

Here is a peek at our week!

Welcome!
We are so excited for the upcoming school year!  I know you have many questions, so I hope to answer some here!

When is Open House?
Open house is August 26th from 2 to 4.  Come in and say hello!

What are the hours of the preschool?
Morning Session:  9:15-11:45                         Afternoon Session 12:30-3:00
Drop off and pick up will both be out back at the preschool playground weather permitting.  If it is raining we will be under the gazebo next to the playground.

What should my child bring to school?
Your child will need a small backpack, one healthy snack and drink, and a change of clothes in a ziplock bag.  (just in case!)

What is the preschool schedule?
The following is a tentative schedule.  For the most part we will always follow this schedule, but I like to be flexible!
  • Drop off/Outside play
  • Circle
  • Centers/Small group
  • Snack
  • Circle/Music
  • Outside play/Pick up

I am a big believer in the benefits of outside play.  It is so important for large muscle growth, exercise, social skills……the list is endless.  So we will go out most days, even in the winter!

I hope I have answered some of the big questions.  Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns and we look forward to a fabulous school year!

Our Last Week of School!

Hard to believe the school year is coming to an end!  I feel like we just began!  I would like to take a moment to say thank you for allowing us the opportunity to get to know and work with your wonderful children!  We are truly blessed to be able to go to work and see the wonders of the world through a child's eyes!  All of those snowy days are magical when you are in our classroom!  We wish you all a fun filled and safe summer!
