Welcome!
We are so excited for the upcoming school year!  I know you have many questions, and I hope to answer some with this letter.

What are the hours of the preschool?
Morning Session:  9:15-11:45                         Afternoon Session 12:30-3:00
Drop off and pick up will both be out back at the preschool playground, weather permitting.  If it is raining we will be under the gazebo next to the playground.  Please do not enter the large playground if there are students out at recess.  Please wait for one of the preschool teachers to open the gate.  We are doing our best to always know who is on school grounds in order to keep all of our children safe.
What should my child bring to school?
Your child will need a small backpack, one healthy snack and a drink, along with a change of clothes in a ziplock bag.  (just in case!)

What is the preschool schedule?
The following is a tentative schedule.  For the most part we will always follow this schedule, but I like to be flexible!
  • Drop off/Outside play
  • Circle
  • Centers/Small group
  • Snack
  • Circle/Music
  • Outside play/Pick up

I am a big believer in the benefits of outside play.  It is so important for large muscle growth, exercise, social skills……the list is endless.  So we will go out most days, even in the winter!

Each year I try to grow as an educator.  I have been working hard to understand the area of technology.  If you don’t already know, I have a blog for the preschool where I will try to keep you informed of the happenings in the classroom and provide some helpful activities to enhance your child’s learning.  This has been a work in progress!  The blog can be found at lpollardhelp.blogspot.com.

My newest initiative is to provide music in the classroom.  I believe that music and the arts are a big part of learning.  I have been taking guitar lessons and I am hoping to provide the children with a half hour of music to enhance early learning skills, such as, body parts, positional words, colors, counting and letters!

I hope I have answered some of the big questions.  Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns and we look forward to a fabulous school year!

Sincerely,
Lisa Pollard
